Departure from Florence is scheduled early in the morning at 8:00 AM. After approximately 2.5 hours of travel, you will arrive in this small independent Republic.
As you walk uphill toward Porta San Francesco, the main entrance to the fortified city, you are immediately immersed in a timeless atmosphere. Here, you'll meet your guide for a tour of the historic center:
One of the stops includes a visit to the Basilica of San Marino, dedicated to the country’s founding saint.
From there, you'll head to Piazza della Libertà, where you'll find the Palazzo Pubblico, the seat of government. If you're lucky, you might witness the changing of the guard.
The tour then continues up to the Guaita Fortress (First Tower) and, if time allows, to the Cesta Tower (Second Tower).
From here, you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the Adriatic coast and the Apennine mountains.
The afternoon continues with free time to explore the alleys of the historic center, filled with shops and local artisan products.
Departure from San Marino is scheduled around 4:00 PM, returning to Florence in the evening.
